Quality & Safety

Holland Malt is highly committed to quality. We continuously measure reference values, ensuring that each processing cycle is meticulously checked and analysed by our quality control department. In complying with the globally acknowledged ISO22000 and GMP+ standards, Holland Malt meets the very highest safety and quality requirements.

Extensive laboratory tests are then performed, corroborating the first results and supplementing these with a germination test and rapid mycotoxin analysis (ELISA) of each batch. These tests provide a good overview of malting performance.

We can conclude, based on our results over the decades, that our continued focus on safety issues pays off with respect to the quality of the malts we produce. Production of brewer’s and distillers’ malt requires excellent barley quality and health; a conviction also shared by our suppliers.

Substances such as mycotoxins, residues of pesticides, heavy metals and nitrosamines are analysed by experienced and accredited external laboratories. Holland Malt has run this programme since 1998.

Storage

The selection and storage of barley determines the quality of the malt we produce. To maximise our malt quality, we monitor the crops at various stages: growth, harvest and after harvest.

In-house brewing knowledge

Holland Malt is experienced in brewing craft and industrial beers. We offer our clients brewing tests and brewing knowledge at our maltings in Lieshout, and our brewing and malt experts also visit our clients across the world to advise them on their brewing processes.

With over 100 years’ experience in maltings and brewing we have noticed that our knowledge can be helpful to brewers and distillers.
